LOCATION:     Oakdale, MN

HOURS AVAILABLE:

2 Full-Time positions available:

Monday 11am - 10pm, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 7am - 9am and 4pm - 10pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am - 10pm.

These hours can be separated out to fit your schedule!

Assist a friendly woman who uses a wheelchair with personal needs, cooking, and transportation on Metro Mobility so that she can live more independently in her private home that she shares with her fiance`. 71 hours per week that can be utilized by 2 or more staff. Great opportunity for full time hours!

1 Part-Time Respite position available: 

Friday 5pm - Sunday 5pm

Provide respite at the female client's home for the weekend beginning at 5:00p on Friday and running until Sunday at 5:00p. Pay is $361.62 for the weekend of care. Client is verbal and capable, but needs assistance with household tasks. She uses an electric wheelchair and has a TRAM lift for easy transfers.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Implementing programming, counseling, and general assistance for individuals living with their families or in a foster care setting.
  • Assisting individuals served with activities, such as bringing the individuals out to eat, to the movies, shopping, Special Olympics events, and dances.
  • Ensure that all assigned individuals are empowered and offered supports to improve their skills and increase self-sufficiency in all aspects of daily living
  • As requested, ensure that routine and special medical appointments are scheduled and attended, and log medical and daily occurrences
  • Provide assistance and/or reminders to individuals to exercise basic self-preservation skills (i.e. wear season appropriate attire
  • Guide individuals in interacting positively with friends, peers, family, the community, staff, professionals, and other persons with whom they may have contact, both in-person and via telephone or computer/other technology
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20lbs
  • Must have 1 year of related experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Willingness to attend to personal cares and health needs, light housekeeping, and meal preparation
  • Willing to commit to and implement person-centered supports
  • Department of Human Services background clearance
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance required
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally
