Thomas Allen is now hiring a Director of Human Resources!

LOCATION:  Office in West St. Paul with travel to our offices throughout the Twin Cities

HOURS AVAILABLE:  40 hours/week, Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm with some flexibility outside of normal office hours

JOB SUMMARY:  The Director of Human Resources (HR) oversees both the HR Department and the Administrative Support Department functions and progress toward goals. In this position, you will manage employee relations issues, unemployment claims, leaves of absence, and other related issues.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide insight and recommendations to key leaders on organizational development, strategic planning, workforce planning, and management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective leadership development program
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an internal mentoring program for succession planning
  • Provide coaching and mentoring support to the management team
  • Provide leadership and guidance to both the HR Manager and Office Manager and their respective team members
  • Review and provide feedback to supervisors regarding employee relations and performance management issues. Ensure consistent disciplinary action and performance management throughout the company
  • Create and coordinate new supervisor training on all HR-related topics
  • Review and process requests for Leaves of Absence in coordination with the Administrator.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims. Attend unemployment hearings as needed
  • Oversee employee recognition and benefit management programs. Review and analyze the company compensation plan and recommend changes based on industry standards and business needs
  • Receive and respond to legal issues, maintaining communication with the Administrator, Directors, and Supervisors regarding these issues
  • Receive and respond to written grievances according to policy
  • Regularly identify and initiate change to personnel policies and forms
  • Represent the HR Department at meetings
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current county, state, and federal regulations relative to personnel issues
  • Answer employee questions regarding any HR-related issues
  • Take on special projects and responsibilities as delegated by the Administrator
  • Primary back up for HR Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Five years of supervisory experience required
  • Ability to utilize computer programs and applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Exceptional ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High-levels of integrity, competency, & sense of urgency
  • Flexibility and nimbleness in changing environments and situations
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Background clearance
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, ability to use own vehicle for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbally

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform sedentary work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50lbs
