Thomas Allen is now hiring a Human Resources Manager!

LOCATION: Office in West St. Paul with occasional travel to our offices throughout the Twin Cities metro

HOURS AVAILABLE: 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm with some flexibility outside of normal office hours

JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function. As the HR Manager, you will administer the employee benefits program, worker's compensation/safety program, performance management system and oversee the progress of recruitment and onboarding goals. You will also supervise the Recruiter and HR Specialist, and coordinate the Floater Program.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Administer employee benefits and 401(k) programs. Work with the brokerage firm to analyze the benefit plan annually and recommend changes based on meeting employee needs and business/legal requirements. Meet requirements for COBRA notifications
  • Process employee benefits enrollment paperwork and communicate enrollments/changes/cancellations to appropriate carriers. Serve as the primary contact for resolving billing and enrollment issues. Ensure accurate payroll deductions for employees
  • Update the company Affirmative Action Plan and complete EEO/AA reports
  • In collaboration with Recruiter, analyze, design, and coordinate staff recruitment and retention strategies
  • Administer the company Worker's Compensation program
  • Serve as the Safety Committee Chair and perform associated tasks
  • Coordinate the performance evaluation system
  • Regularly identify and initiate change to personnel policies and forms
  • Take on special projects and responsibilities as delegated by the Director of HR
  • In coordination with the Director of HR, perform supervisory training on Worker's Compensation, COBRA rights, and Safety
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current county, state, and federal regulations relative to personnel issues
  • Ensure that all current employees are legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Assist with designing and implementing employee retention programs
  • Assist with handling employee relations issues
  • Complete requests for wage and employment verifications
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of HR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5 years of progressively more responsible HR experience
  • Ability to utilize computer programs and applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Exceptional ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High-levels of integrity, competency, & sense of urgency
  • Flexibility and nimbleness in changing environments and situations
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Background clearance
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, ability to use own vehicle for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbally
