Thomas Allen is Hiring an RN Consultant!

LOCATION:

JOB SUMMARY: As a Registered Nurse Consultant, you will have the primary responsibility of providing medical service recommendations to the individuals served and training staff on medical procedures. Duties also include completing progress notes and/or a summary of findings following each nursing visit, providing consultation on nursing procedures and specific health issues of the individuals served, and being available by phone for emergencies and consultation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct at least one on-site nursing visit per week
  • Documentation
  • If there are any ongoing medical concerns, perform more thorough physical checks on persons served
  • Discuss or communicate in writing to the Program Manager any specific policy/procedure and/or issues relating to program staff adequately meeting each person's medical needs
  • Provide medication administration and/or medical/health care training for staff
  • Be available by phone for emergencies and consultation
  • Provide consultation on nursing procedures, specific health issues, and admission and demission
  • During ICF/ID licensing visits, be available for a consult regarding the general health of each individual served and implement any necessary changes indicated during the required ICF/ID semi-annual pharmacy review
  • General nursing care and services
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with a current license in the state of Minnesota
  • Must be familiar with ICF/ID state and federal licensing requirements, autism, downs syndrome, dementia, bowel movement cares, insomnia, mental illness, target symptoms, monitoring psychotropic medications, and be comfortable educating others and/or providing consultation
  • Must be mature, polite, competent, and possess team playing abilities, effective listening skills, and strong overall social and communication skills
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • A multifaceted nursing background, including supervisory experience, is desirable
  • Background clearance
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance required
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally
